It's that time of year again! The first day of a new year is a great time to look forward and make promises and resolutions for the future. I enjoy reflecting on the year that has passed to appreciate all the people I have come to meet, acknowledge lessons learned, and take a walk down memory lane.

Here are my favorite photos from the year 2011. It was a delightfully busy year, which gave me many many great moments to choose from. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed capturing them. Thanks to all my wonderful clients, it was a pleasure!

Just Married in Central Park

After months and months of planning, and a long day of emotions, drinking and dancing- it is easy to understand how a bride and groom might think that a second shoot the next morning might be a little overwhelming. This is what Jenny and Milen thought initially, but I was able to persuade them with the idea of a fashion photo shoot in Central Park and pictures of them in their wedding clothes feeding a foot long hot dog to their foot long hot dogs! After all, its not every day that you get to wear a custom made Carolina Herrera gown, a fabulous fur coat by Norisol Ferrari, jewelry by Dannijo,a stunningly tailored Prada suit and have a sexy fashion photo shoot in the middle of Central Park... seriously. Jenny and Milen were gracious enough to appease us and I don't think they regret it.

We had a beautiful, sun drenched autumn shoot with bridges, boats and hot dog stands. When we finished shooting, Jenny and Milen were walking through the park by the "Guitar Man". They were obviously stunning enough to create a stir and catch some attention. The musician congratulated the couple and then proceeded to serenade them with Elvis Presley's "Fools Rush In". Jenny and Milen shared their second "first dance" in front of a crowd of happy onlookers. Tears were flowing, and it was one of the most amazing moments we've had the pleasure of photographing. As we walked away, the general consensus was, "Wow. That just happened."

In early October, Koko Verde hopped a plane and flew across the country to document the fabulous wedding of Jenny and Milen in New York City. Jenny is a fashion designer and Milen is an amazing leather tailor. I had worked with them before to shoot their clothing line, Dva Bika (which is AMAZING). Of course, their wedding was fabulous! Below I have attached some of my favorite photos from their day.

It is always a pleasure to photograph this couple! Every year they drive for hours to endure a brisk afternoons in the snow...and every time we get beautiful photos. We mixed it up a little this time and included their beautiful dogs, Tally and Sage.

Michelle + Erik : Married on the Lake

Sunday before last was a picture perfect labor day weekend. Michelle and Erik couldn't have received better weather at their wedding. They tied the knot on the shores of Whitefish Lake at the Whitefish Lake Lodge. Kelly from Frontier Florist was their event coordinator. She really pulled through for them to make sure everything was seamless and went off without a hitch.

Below are some of my favorite photos from the day. They had some extremely adorable children present!

Mike + Bree : Married!!

On Saturday I got to photograph this lovely couple for the second time. The first was for their engagement session- which included some really beautiful light, the mountains, the dogs, and the bride's mother's donkey Caesar. Now I have come full circle and have seen them make their commitments to each other in front of all their closest friends and family. The only words I can think of that would perfectly describe this wedding would be : darling, quaint, stunning. For one, they got married at Bree's mother's house which was built in 1890 and has been in their family since. Also, Bree's father was good enough to not only walk her up the aisle- but fly her into the ceremony in his cherry red helicopter. I think the only way you could trump that is to fly in yourself- by your own power. Their beautiful flowers were by Debbie Kauffman of Memories in Blossom. (She did my wedding bouquet too!)

Thanks again you two for providing such a beautiful backdrop, and for gushing so lovingly on each other. You really make my job a joy.

Chris + Lacey : Just Married Session : Good 'Ole GNP

Last night I had a beauty of a "Just Married" session with the AMAZING Lacey and Chris.

They were married in Somers on Saturday, but wanted to treat themselves to a little extra photo session in the mountains before they flew home to San Fran.

Although this turned out to be a stunning session- of course it didn't go completely hitch free. Of course... So, we get just into Glacier AND... I get a flat tire. Yep. Not only did this couple stay calm and collected- they worked as a team together to help me change it up and get back on the road. Luckily we had agreed in advance that they would be more comfortable if they waited to get into their wedding clothes until we were at location. Whew! Was that a good call! That Chris really saved my bacon- it always pays to have an engineer along. :) Thanks you two!

After that travesty of a setback- we got cleaned up and went on our way shooting. By the end we encountered bright sun, clouds, wind, rain, and lightning. Also, they were happy to risk their lives and stand on the rock wall overlooking a VERY SCARY drop... all for the photos. Never a dull moment.

Thanks again you two. You are troopers and very special people. Congrats on your wedding!

Another KoKo Verde shoot! (of course)

The lovely Kati and Darin just keep giving us stunning moments to photograph. We love them!

This was literally the FASTEST photo shoot the KoKo has EVER done. Probably 15 minutes top. The mosquitoes in this canola field were of biblical proportions. Nevertheless, this is probably one of our favorite shoots of all times. It reminds me of the daffodil scene from Big Fish.

Sam + Brie = MARRIED! : Mandy Mohler Photography

I mentioned earlier this week that I had the rare chance to shoot two weddings in one day. This one is the main headliner. And boy was it eventful! There was a beautiful ceremony full of heartfelt speeches from friends and family, dramatic weather, and a power outage. We agreed that with thunder, lighting, rain, and a dark candle lit reception- that the rest of my services would be best fulfilled the following morning. This happened to work out perfectly because Brie had wished all along to have pictures taken at her family's lake house on Flathead.

Thanks so much Sam and Brie for being SUCH troopers! Your patience really pulled you through to get everything you could ask for.

This evening (well...technically, last evening) I had the pleasure of FINALLY documenting my beautiful dear friend Vickie and her family full of LOVE. I haven't seen such absolutely genuine compassion in a family- maybe...ever. Their gathering is in celebration of the wedding that will take place this Saturday between Vickie's daughter and the sweetest guy ever. Also in attendance is Vickie's grandson and grandchild on the way. The lovebirds have their close friend, the cool cat with the sleeves and awesome dragon pose, here to marry them. (This may be my favorite law in Montana: anyone can officiate a wedding.) And, not to forget- Vickie's husband made a sneak appearance at the end after dealing with "gasoline" aka olive oil marinade on the grill.

This was of course a very difficult edit, so I did less editing, more posting.

Bree + Mike : Engagement Session : Mandy Mohler Wedding Photography

I had the most beautiful engagement session this evening with the two lovebirds Bree and Mike.

We've been attempting to schedule this thing for quite some time, but the weather has been typical Montana style fitful...until TODAY! What a beauty of a night it was. I had a couple in love, there three gorgeous dogs, a donkey, snow-capped peaks, lush green fields, quiet ponds, slightly cloudy skies, and the warmth of a low hanging summer sun. That is a recipe for magic to happen. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding! Also, I love that they are exchanging vows on a piece of land that has been in Bree's family for six generations. That alone is truly special.

Today I had the pleasure of photographing the most darling owls.

It was the open house / student show for the Art Department of the Flathead Valley Community College.

John Rawlings, drawing instructor, collaborated with our local wildlife rehabilitator from Wildlife Return to bring in two lovely owls : Benjamin and Bentley for our drawing and gushing pleasure.

The birds were gorgeous, regal, and so well behaved.

These are some of my all time favorite animals-- what a lucky day to spend so much time capturing their beauty. This was a very tough edit...

Kati + Darin = LOVE

Yesterday Lindsey and I were FINALLY able to get together with the lovely Kati and Darin for their engagement shoot. First attempt, I had a severe fever and was highly contagious. Second attempt, melting snow, ice, RAIN. Finally yesterday, it appeared as if we would get lucky with the weather....

and as Lindsey and I were driving towards the Swan, the temp read 41 degrees, and... it started to RAIN. Of course!!

Being the awesome couple that they are, Kati and Darin pushed to start the shoot anyway. They smiled and hugged and loved despite the dripping, and then... we were all rewarded with brilliant blue skies and sunshine. Lindsey and I were really lucky after all, because the smorgasbord of weather gave us a great variety of shots.

Thanks so much Kati and Darin for your patience and for being such GORGEOUS models.
